Children after 35

multiple birth

My 7th pregancy proved to be much more than I anticipated. When bleeding started shortly after my second month, I rushed to my family doctor who had delivered my 6th child, His diagnostics was that those were signs of a imminent miscarriage, I was going to loose that embryo, his advice was the usual, lbed rest, feet elevated, no lifting, yadiyadiyadiyada...

Heard that one before, and with my already busy schedule, there was no time for me to lay down and follow his advices, sure I wanted too, but how? My oldest, a 15 years boy was in junior football in his high school, my 12 years old daughter who busied herself with junior high cheeeleading, a nine years old with stars in her eyes, dancing at the local ballet studio, then Stephanie a 4 years old spunky little blond hair blue eyes gymnist, her 3 years old sister starting in dance lessons as well, and then, at the bottom of the totem pole came little Michelle, only 11 months old, who wanted mommy's arms above all others, Could I lay down when these children needed me? And about my husband, he too, was as demanding as my one year old! Oy! So once again, here I am, pregnant, and barefoot. The bleeding stopped by itself after 2 days, I didn't give another thought about my needs at this point, my children needed their mommys, and that was good that the bleeding had stopped, although I must confess, I truly didn't want any more children, 6 was more than enough by any account! about 2 months later at my regular check up, my doctor informed me that due to my age, he couldn't care for me, as I was considered a high risk pregnancy, why? I asked him, his answers was due to my age, complcations can arise and the hospital were he practiced wasn't prepared to deal with these kind of problems. (I had a very long labor with my last baby, my cervix would not dilate, it had to be done manualy, 3 hours in hard labor, was very long and exhausting not to mention very painful) so our family doctor who has been with us since we moved back to NY after my husband's severance from the US Army, was not going to care for me after all, he refered me to the prerenatal care center in Crouse Erwing, Syracuse, NY. I was 4 month pregnant when I finally saw a specialist, and by that time, all kinds of test were ordered and done, At the end of the day, a doctor came into my room, to say, they were keeping me overnight, that an ultra sound was scheduled for the following morning, my children were over at their grand parents for the day, as they were informed they would stay overnight. The morning came, not too soon for me, and by 7 AM the ultra sound machine entered my room, this was the first time that a sonogram was intruduced to me, needless to say, that was the first, of many more sonograms. Specialists were coming in and out of my room for the next 2 hours, my bladder about to burst, for all night long they had given me intraveneous fluids, after what seem like an eternity, my husband by my side, we were told, that I did not have one baby in my womb, oh no, not one, but three! THREE??? OH NO! I think my face wore all the colors of the rainbow, trying to digest it all in. These "babies" are now 25 years old, my eldest children are all married, I am a grand mother of 9 grand-children. Many women after the age of 35 are in bigger risk to give birth to multiple babies. One out of 9800 live birth will be that of a triplet birth. I was confined to forced bed rest (hospitalized) in my 26 weeks of pregnancy, my boys were born 5 weeks before their due dates which was Sept 26, In the morning of Aug 19, Jason, Joshua and Aaron made there grand entrance, they were very small, but they breathed on their own Aaron was the smallest weighting a mere 2' 2 ounces. He stayed 2 months in the hospital, then he came to joined the gang!

Wow! Is that 9 kids? We have 3 and feel plenty busy. Can't imagine having three infants.
